Image of the month is back…

I have uploaded the new image of the month for February already, just in case I get busy and don’t have time around the 1st of the month…

Once again, this is one of my favorite people, she has done many shoots with me and I will continue to have her as a model for as long as she wants to do it.  This is not her profession, but she does better than a lot of “models” that I know and work with.  This image is part of  ”gel” series that I play with from time to time.  Everyone knows I love using light and shadow, but at times, the right color sets a whole different tone to the image that you may not get otherwise.

Better late than never

I have very little discipline when it comes to writing and updating, but feel I should make an effort to do both, if for nothing else, to overcome one more thing about myself that annoys me…lol..

I have fallen to the winter and the cold outside, and feel that it is freezing my abilities to create something called art.  More likely it’s an excuse, but it’s difficult to get models motivated when it’s so cold….  I have decided to work on ideas a little less on the mainstream, all of which are required to be inside…lol..  I had a new idea tossed at me by a new friend and it has been rattling around in my melon every since, so once i iron out the what, how, who and all that, I will post it for all to see.

Image of the Month ~ September ~

This is an image in my newest gallery, “landscapes”  if you haven’t checked it out, be sure to as soon as you can.

Landscapes using the human body is not a new concept, but I try to give it my own style.  I have had many images like this purchased as wall art and with the way that it is shot, many can be hung without worrying about the image being unappropriate.

This image was something I threw in to another session with a great model I work with on a regular basis.  I feel it captures the rolling contours of her body in a way that makes you want to see what is just out of sight, just as when you are in nature, you really want to see what’s over the next hill.

Image of the Month ~July~

The current Image of the Month is an old one I have had just taking up space… that is until I found it a few weeks ago.  I’m not sure why I didn’t move this into the galleries back when I took it, probably just overlooked it.  For me its simplicity makes the image…  proving you don’t need elaborate lighting, dramatic changes in photoshop or anything else.  Great form, light and timing create yet another beautiful image.

Image of the Month ~ June ~

I worked with this girl a couple of summers ago and have just been waiting for the right idea to hit me to use with some of her images..  This has been an idea that I’ve been thinking about for a while.  The frozen in time concept is something I read in a book and have been playing with the concept every since.  Stone is forever, so it only seemed fitting to try and incorporate into my work.  It took me a while to work out the technique but I am really happy with the results.

I will be separating the images in the gallery up really soon into categories, until them, sift through the current gallery to see more of this work.

Image of the Month ~ May

This is another of my favorites.  The model is a wonderful woman, open for just about anything and has more energy and drive than anyone I have ever met.

I think it is the look in her eye that makes this a favorite.  I’m fond of how the shadow brings out every muscle and the light captures just enough of her face, making her expression draw you in, wanting more.

Image of the Month – April

I added the new image of the month for April today, I know, a bit late, but better than never…

This is of a good friend of mine and for me this image speaks to me of an age that I’m not sure the world has ever seen…  innocent, care free, and uninhibited.  I know we have been all of these things, but all at once… I just don’t recall ever learning about an age like that.

I was torn between the color version and the sepia at first, but when i thought about it, the sepia won over, mainly because of the way it makes me feel when I look at it, which probably only makes sense to me…

I have shot many many pictures of her and I believe that the series with this one is by far my favorite among them.  She had just the right expressions and body movements that day, which made my creativity work like it should.

Just thought I would mention how this image sets in my mind….  I feel like it is beauty that has been chained down and is trying to escape…. I feel like most of the time that beauty has been caged or forced to hide as a result of a society full of political correctness…. hmmm, what?  Really, I just want to find beauty and release it….
